For those who have been following the progress (or lack thereof) or our home addition project, there is good news!
We have a new contractor on the job. A structural engineer is expected in Monday or Tuesday and several of the "problem areas" have been exposed so they can be addressed.
The new carpenters are a husband and wife team plus an experienced helper. We are very impressed with them so far. The husband has told me that his wife is in charge! LOL
If the weather cooperates, we should be finished and have Mother moved here before Thanksgiving.
We are so looking forward to that!

Well I can see that a follow-up is in order. . .
We did NOT have Mother moved in by Thanksgiving of 2005, but she was here for Christmas.
What an experience that construction was!
But I have a confession to make. My Dad was in construction all his working life (commercial and industrial mostly). His father was a carpenter. My brother has worked in construction until just recently. So it's in my blood. I just love construction projects!
Despite all the mess and all the headaches and all the dust and the incompetent first contractor, I'd do it all over in a heartbeat. Only this time I'd hire a different contractor to begin with! lol
And the result is just great. For the first time since we moved here I actually like my house. Everyone has plenty of space. There are plenty of bathrooms. And lots of windows. I'm really happy with my house.
I want to thank those of you who were in my Veretekk trainings and supported me during that challenging time. You were great!
The Kat
