AARP: The Organizational Structure
To help achieve its mission of addressing the needs and interests of persons 50 and older, AARP is organized into a central headquarters, an office in every state, as well as the District of Columbia, the Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico, and 3,500 local chapters.
AARP's national headquarters is located in Washington, D.C., allowing staff and volunteer leaders access to the federal government. National headquarters coordinates the activities of the field operations and state offices, and provides support to the chapters, which are separately incorporated groups that provide members with opportunities to come together to volunteer in their own communities.
The Association's state level presence creates and enhances volunteer and community service opportunities; identifies areas of AARP's legislative concern and advocates for positive change; and supports volunteers and staff as they work toward accomplishing the goals and objectives of the Association and its members.
AARP has approximately 1,800 paid staff, which provides members, volunteers and the public with administrative support, and issue and technical expertise. They work under the direction of AARP's Executive Director and CEO who, in turn, reports to the Executive Committee of the policymaking Board of Directors. In addition, over 160,000 members serve as volunteers to help fulfill AARP's mission, including the 21 member all-volunteer Board of Directors.

There is an excellent section of the AARP website devoted to Money; Retirement, Personal Finance and Work. There is also a section offering ideas and analysis on investments and wealth preservation.
You are no doubt aware that Congress recently has passed their version of a "bailout plan" for our ailing economy. AARP encourages and provides information for us, the people with the wisdom of age, to implement and execute our own bailout plan for our personal economies. There is a lot to review on their site, and I suggest you do. I also suggest consider another financial option that you will not find on the AARP website. It is not for everyone, but anyone can find something in it which would be beneficial to them.
At this time in our lives, some of us want or need, to earn a little extra, part-time income. Our 401K's are in the tank and our bank might be the next one to fail. Some of us have pulled our money out of Mutual Funds, individual stocks and banks. I believe there is a lot of money is just sitting is peoples' houses, in a suitcase, in the freezer and under the proverbial mattress. It is a sad and precarious situation as inflation is continually ravaging that money.
One thing we ALL need is a high rate of return on our investments, not just to offset the rate of inflation, but to greatly exceed it and produce a significant, residual-income, cash flow. It would be highly beneficial to own an income producing, business asset which will INCREASE in market value over time. Plus, it would be wise for everyone to structure each of their financial positions to realize every tax advantage available to them. And then, there are some people who have built a successful business or contributed abundantly to mankind for many years and achieved great wealth. Usually, it is the nature with people of this sort, not to be content just sitting around all day, fishing or playing golf. They need to BE ACTIVE and want to DO SOMEHTING productive.
